Sudden hearing loss: seek care immediately

By PAMUINI ยท Published September 11, 2026

Do not wait for a device or an online reply

A sudden loss of hearing is a medical emergency. Seek medical care immediately. Do not delay while trying a hearing aid, completing our questionnaire or waiting for customer support.

What can a sudden change feel like?

Sudden sensorineural hearing loss can develop at once or over a few days, often in one ear. Some people notice it upon waking or using a phone. Ear fullness, ringing or dizziness can occur as well.

Do not assume it is wax

A blocked sensation does not establish the cause. A clinician can examine the ear and arrange hearing tests. Delayed diagnosis and treatment can reduce treatment effectiveness.

What to tell the clinician

Describe when you first noticed the change, which ear is affected and any accompanying symptoms. This page cannot determine the cause or recommend treatment for an individual.

How this affects online shopping

PAMUINI's finder directs reported sudden changes away from product selection. A previous result should not be reused after symptoms change. For other situations requiring evaluation, read warning signs before buying.
